dr. laura is here to help! many of you wrote that you felt ill... well, here are some ways to cure that aim disease that just won't go away...

top ten treatments for severe aim diseases:

10. take a typing class so you can learn the proper way to spell u, y, 2, r, b and all those other words you abbreviate (treats 10, 6, and 3)

9. move out of algonquin (treats 9)

8. say the words aloud when you type so you'll hear how foolish you actually sound (treats 10, 8, 6, 5, 3 & 1)

7. stick some glue on your computer chair so you don't walk away while talking to someone (treats 7, 5, & 4)

6. make your font really huge so you can catch your spelling errors more easily(treats 6)

5. sign off every 24 hours or when you go to sleep (treats 5, 4, 2, & 1)

4. change the setting on your aim preferences so ppl can't tell when you're idle. at least it'll look like you're on even if you aren't. (treats 4, but do not do this if you suffer from 7 or 1!)

3. delete random screen names of ppl you never talk to but always check their away msgs (treats 1)

2. tell all your buddies to block you (treats 1)

and if all else fails?

1. SWITCH BACK TO DIAL-UP OR UNINSTALL AIM (treats all ten)

brand new top ten! sorry it's been a while (: (still working on that new layout...)

TOP TEN AIM DISEASES (and their symptoms)
as researched and diagnosed by dr. caleb and dr. laura, official ccf aim doctors. (uhh, don't ask.)

10. aim abbreviatis: the patient's laziness is reflected by the overusage of abbreviations: lol, brb, ttyl, as well as condensation of words: 2, r, u, rite, dat, etc.

9. aim algonquineria: patient's online connection is unstable and his or her screen name signs on and off frequently, much to the annoyance of other users. while this disease is often uncontrollable, it is a serious disease that affects user experience. possible treatment? get a real connection!

8. aim flirtatia: the patient - which can be either male or female, will converse with users of the opposite sex more often that his or her own. the patient's flirtatious language can either be interpreted as joking or serious, but the patient's intent is yet unknown. further research is needed for this diagnosis.

7. aim add: conversations end abruptly (or never really end) because patient walks away or forgets he/she is talking to you, long pauses between conversation because patient cannot seem to sit at the computer for more than 30 seconds.

6. aim dyslexia: patients cannot spell when typing; words most often mispelled: relaly, teh, and ?. in addition, words will often become separatedi nd ifferentw aysl iket his. dislexia comes frequently with ghettoitis and ditzoid.

5. aimnesia: patient will forget the content of his or her conversation and tend to ask the same thing over and over again, or repeat what he or she said. type b of this disease often includes forgetting to put up away messages, forgetting to update their profiles or away messages when status has changed (ex. one who announces an event and leaves it up several weeks or months past the time that it happened).

4. aimIDLEia: patient does not suffer from overusage, but underusage. patient seems to signed on a lot but is always idle (and often does not have an away message up). although this may seem harmless it often causes frustration for other aim users, especially those that suffer from #1.

3. aim ghettoitis/ditzoid: ghettoitis is often found in male patients, who during conversations will tend to sound like they are trying to be "from da street", using language like "kewl", "werd", "dat's tite yo", or "how you be". ditzoids are typically female patients whose very intelligence seem to decrease when talking online. these patients spell all words with more letters than necessary (ex: sweeeettttt, coooollll!, niiiiiccceee). ditzoids frequently have "4eva" or "4u" in their screen names and use smileys more than usual.

2. aim schizophrenia: there are many types, but two seem to be the most prominent. type a involves using several screen names, sometimes at the same time. type b, which is the more serious of the two, is the constant changing of buddy icons, font color and background, or profile content, and the spacing in their screen names (Mei922 becomes m Ei 9 22, for example). this signifies that the patient is not satisfied with a permanent online identity and feels he or she must constantly change it.

1. aim-oholics: paitent has a full-fledged addiction to aim. some symptoms include an online time of anything more than twenty-four hours (people w/ serious aimoholicism will be online for five, six, seven days at a time), detailed away messages that tell other users way too much about where they really are, and long-winded profile messages, often including some profound quote. other symptoms are constantly checking other people's away messages and clicking on all their links, and IM'ing people the second the buddy list indicates they are no longer away or idle. aim-oholics also commonly suffer from a combination of flirtatia, ghetto-itis/ditzoid, abbreviatis, schizophrenia, and dislexia.

doctor's note:
perhaps after reading you now fear that you suffer from one or more of these aim diseases. don't fret, treatment IS possible! leave a message and dr. laura will be happy to set up an appointment to give you a proper check up exam and diagnosis. the first step to a cure is admission and recognition!

CCF Daily Prayer Meetings:
Monday-Thurday 9pm-10pm at the League (Quilt Room, in the lobby area)
Friday 5-6pm outside 1360 East Hall

top ten reasons why you should go to CCF Daily Prayer Meetings:
>> a special request from the dpm leaders.

10. because prayer is important, and it's God's will! "Be joyful always, pray conitnually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

9. because the monday dpm leaders are cute.

8. because the tuesday dpm leader will beat you up if you don't go.

7. because going to large group and small group and all the other ccf meetings isn't enough without praying for God to bless those ministries.

6. because the wednesday dpm leader is hot.

5. because the thursday dpm leader is even hotter.

4. because one hour's worth of prayer is a hundred times more valuable than one hour's worth of studying. (don't believe me? TRY IT!)

3. because the friday dpm leader is the future sexiest banker of new york.

2. because God promises to be with us whenever two or more gather in His name, and because praying as a fellowship unites us, the right way!

1. because God desires to have a relationship with us, and the best way to build that is to pray and talk to him! if you need help doing that on your own, why not do it with other ccf-ers?

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7
