PoG concert review

alright, here's the concert review like i promised:

lindsay and i got to the church at like...5:50 maybe. doors opened at 6:15 but there were already so many people in line! we were kind sad about that but oh well... joyce joined us at 6:30.

during the 1st half we were in the second row but way on the left side. so the lights and stuff were getting in our eyes, and we could only see their profiles unless one of them looked directly at us (which actually happened quite often! maybe cuz i was wearing my rhinestone pog shirt... heehee). then right after the intermission we were thinking of moving but then all of a sudden we see heather and denise walking down into the aisles, and before we knew it denise is singing directly to us! she was like right in front of us! we were so starstruck we couldn't do anything. except lindsay took a flash picture... haha... they were singing circle of friends (which is actually the first song we all heard by pog so it has a special place in our hearts) and we were so mad at ourselves for not singing along while denise was in front of us. because shelley actually put the mike to someone else and whoever it was, was singing way off key! anyway, after that we ended up moving to a spot that was a few rows back but had a much better view.

the entire concert was great... their voices and testimonies always bless me and blow me away. my favorite part was when each pog member got to sing a little solo from their older albums. heather started by singing dying to reach you, which is an awesome song and i only recently started listening to it a lot. then shelley sang Jesus will still be there and it was just beautiful. that song is such a great reminder of Jesus' unconditional presence and love for us no matter what we're going through.

then it was leigh's (the new girl) turn.
she said, "well, i haven't had the privelege of recording a point of grace classic, but the band and i arranged a little something so i hope you don't mind..." so then she starts singing, and it was a sierra song! (sierra is another but less famous girl christian group).
the other pog members were like, "um, that is NOT one of our songs."
and leigh said, "really? i could have sworn that was a point of grace song!" so then she was like, "okay, okay, i know... let's try this again." so then she starts singing "adonai... i lift up my heart and i cry... my adonai."
and then the others were like, "um... that's AVALON."
leigh: "but it was a number one song!"
denise: "not EVERY number one song is point of grace!"
heather: "i mean, i know the guys in avalon sing higher than all of us but really..."
leigh: "okay, okay, sorry."
others: "we'll give you one last chance."
leigh sings: "WIDE OPEN SPACES..." (denise starts harmonizing...)
heather: "you! (pointing at leigh) i can't believe you! and YOU - (points at denise) i REALLY cannot believe you!"
denise (looks guilty): "but i love that harmony part!"
heather: "i think the only thing we have in common with the dixie chicks is that we're chicks!"
(applause)
shelley: "oh, and we also both have outspoken blonde members.."
(laughter).
so then the laughs end and it's denise's turn. she sang blue skies - love that song. then she went into the great divide and all of them joined in during the chorus. it was really great... i actually started to tear up. that song really means so much to me... it also brought back a lot of good memories.

they sang mostly stuff from their new album but also several oldies. i wished they had sung "for all you've done" which is a favorite among lindsay, joyce and me. anyway, after the concert was over we were leaving but then saw a table with chairs behind it and a line forming. so we fell in line, later to discover they were coming out to sign autographs! joyce and i didn't bring our cds so we had to buy little posters (which is okay since i actually have one from each of the past concerts). so we got to talk to them! we told them that this was our fifth concert, and that we've been listening to them for 8 years and have really been blessed by their music. and joyce told denise that we were really starstruck when she came over to us and that we wanted to sing along but were kind of frozen. so she laughed about that. we also asked them if they maybe remembered us from previous times meeting them, and shelley said that she thinks she does... and she mentioned northridge church (where all their previous concerts were). we told them we had given them a frame with our pictures and shelley said she remembered! i'm not sure if they really do remember - cuz leigh claims she remembered meeting me, but i told her this was our first concert on the new tour so i hadn't met her. maybe she was just remembering some other asian girl... hrmm... anyway, it was exciting regardless. even though it was only a short time it was fun "chatting" with them. i don't know why i get so star struck every time because really they are so down to earth and friendly. but... yeah that was exciting.

all in all it was really fun and a good time of worship. i think i always forget how much the women of point of grace are really devoted to the Lord. i imagine it must be a challenge after having had so much success and fame. but at the end of the day, they really just want to praise God and that's really cool. yay PoG and yay God!
